Since this is a Macintosh tip, it obviously won’t work so well on any other type of computer. (And it is a Mac OS X 10.4 tip only.)
And since this is a geek tip, it might not interesting to you if you’re not one of those.
And this particular tip has no practical use whatsoever.
But I’m not sure if the word useless in the title is describing the tip or the geek. I’ll leave that to you to figure out.
And now the Mac Useless Geek Tip: In Mac OS X Tiger, activate the Dashboard. Hold the shift key down. Click on the desktop. Cool slow motion, huh?
A slightly more useful Dashboard tip from macosxhints.com: Detach widgets from the Dashboard
And more useless slow motion effects in Tiger. My favorite… dragging a widget from the dashboard with the shift key down. Drag it back to the bar as well to see it shrink.
As a little shout out to all of the other geeks… ha… Did I happen to mention that I had three computers running at once on my desktop today at work? I’m testing out the new operating system for my desktop publishing department.
I was running a PowerMac QuickSilver G4 on OS 9.2.2 and 10.3.9, a PowerMac G5 (Dual 2.3GHz!) on 10.4.1, and an iMac 20-inch G5 on 10.4. I had the two desktop computers connected into the same 19″ LCD monitor and was able to switch between the two inputs. Having three keyboards clustered together on the desktop was a bit confusing, but luckily one had black keys, the other white, and the third was pushed off to the side until it was needed.
Get your geek on.
